Welcome and thank you for stopping by my website. I have been in private practice for over twenty years working with adults - young adults through the elderly. I feel privileged to do the work that I do and I try to honor this privilege by continuing to study and learn through readings, courses and consultations with peers. I am grateful for the continued opportunity for learning and growth and I know that is has enriched my work tremendously. My journey has enabled me to more clearly define myself as a person and as a clinician. I have come to see the value in all of the major models of psychotherapy - cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychoanalytic therapy. I have found my home in a type of psychodynamic therapy known as RELATIONAL psychotherapy.
The major thrust of RELATIONAL psychotherapy is, as the name indicates, about the centrality of relationships in our lives and their impact upon our mental, physical and spiritual well-being. Relationships are messy! Always! Even the best ones! And that is where relational psychotherapy comes into play. How do we understand our relationships, both professional and personal. How do others impact us? How do we impact others? And this of course also extends to what we call the therapeutic alliance. The YOU and ME in therapy. The beauty in this is that our relationship becomes a conduit for healing. Rather than THE THERAPIST staring down and interpreting the words and behaviors of the THE PATIENT, there is a true dialogue between the two. I invite you to join in a dialogue with me to see if it can be a healing one for you.
